Jim D. Thomas

With over 25 years of experience in the IT and healthcare industries, Jim is a passionate and visionary leader dedicated to driving enterprise value through innovation, architecture, and governance.

As the Chief Information Officer for Akeso Occupational Health, Jim leads the overall IT strategy, delivery, and operations for over 20 occupational health clinics throughout California. He has spearheaded transformational initiatives involving Epic EHR, clinical ancillary systems, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco Unified Communications, Dell Technologies, and Microsoft Azure to establish a comprehensive cloud strategy.
Jim successfully managed the $390 million acquisition and integration of the national health system Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). His focus areas included Epic EHR, clinical applications, cybersecurity, data centers, cloud computing, systems, and networks. He also pioneered a product innovation center that applies design-thinking principles to optimize clinical workflows, enhance patient safety, and elevate provider and patient satisfaction.

Committed to cybersecurity and compliance, Jim provided oversight for cybersecurity audits and responses, ensuring solution designs and deployments aligned with corporate governance, risk management, insurance, and compliance standards. He established a Project Management Office (PMO) overseeing a $50–60 million project portfolio focused on growth, construction, innovation, and lifecycle management.
